Saint Johns has many opportunities for music ministry participation. Please consider joining this important ministry. Singers and Instrumentalists are welcome. All choirs use volunteers… no formal audition is required. The only requirement is a love of music and desire to serve the Lord! Children are welcome to participate as well as adults.
Saturday 5:00 p.m. Mass Choir
This choir rehearses on Saturdays at 3:30 p.m. in the music room. The choir uses Worship IV and occasional repertoire from other Catholic collections. Singers and Instrumentalists are welcome. Contact Kim Kortz at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to join!
Sunday Morning Choirs
Singers and instrumentalists are welcome at 8:00 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. masses on Sunday mornings. Rehearsal takes place on Wednesday nights in the music room. Rehearsal attendance is not mandatory, however highly encouraged. Musicians come to the choir area prior to each mass in time to be ready to sing and play at the start of each mass. We use Worship IV and songs from the Choose Christ and Spirit and Song series.
Sunday 5:00 p.m. Contemporary Choir
We primarily use Choose Christ and the Spirit and Song series. Rehearsal takes place Sundays at 3:30p.m. in the Music Room. Instrumentalists and singers are welcome! For more information, please contact Stephanie Arizpe by email at email@example.com.
Saint John’s Children’s Choir
Saint John’s Children’s choir is open to all ages of children who like to sing! The choir rehearses at 4:00 p.m. on Sundays in the Music Room. Please come to rehearsal on Sunday or contact the Church Office with any questions. The choir sings for two Sunday masses each month.
Sunday Spanish Choirs
We have Spanish choirs that provide music for our Sunday 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. masses. The choirs are led by Edgar Valenzuela. The choirs use repertoire from Flor y Canto. Both singers and instrumentalists are welcome. Contact Edgar at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or to join either group!
Cantors lead the music at mass. Cantors should possess a pleasant singing voice and the ability to read music. Contact the Church Office if you are interested in cantoring.
Instrumentalists are needed throughout the year. Feast days especially present repertoire that use instruments. Instrumentalists are also sometimes requested for weddings. We need all instruments from guitars and drums to strings, brass and woodwinds. If you play an instrument, please contact the Church Office.
