Many Catholics feel like they "graduated" from their Catholic education after confirmation or completing Catholic school or Religious Education, but we are life-long learners in our faith. Our Christian education continues until the day we meet our Heavenly Father and all questions are answered.
At Saint John’s we offer the following programs to help adults deepen their faith:
Adult Bible Study
The group is open to any adult who may wish to further their faith and enjoy the fellowship of other Catholic adults. The group meets for Mass at 9:30 a.m. on Sundays, followed by the Knights of Columbus Breakfast at 10:30 a.m. and finishing with Bible Study at 11:00 a.m. in the Family Life Center.
Wednesday Night Adult Formation
This group meets Wednesday evenings following Mass at 7:05 p.m. in the Resource Room in the Administration Building and offers an opportunity for all parishioners to enrich their understanding of their Catholic faith through the many wonderful Catholic study programs that are available.
Gentlemen, are you looking for something to fill your Tuesday nights and bring you closer to God and your Catholic faith? Saint John the Apostle Catholic Church has something for you. The Defenders is an Apologetics Course that will enrich your understanding of the Catholic Faith so that you may defend it. The group meets Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m., in Room 7 of Saint Johns School.
Christ Renews His Parish
Several times per year we offer Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP) Renewal Weekends for men and women in both English and Spanish. CRHP is a personal and parish spiritual renewal process. As Catholics, we are called to witness to one another the amazing things God as done for us. The CRHP process allows us to do just that—take a break from our busy lives, share our faith with others, and get to know God through his works. Please check our Calendar of Events for the dates of the upcoming renewal weekends, or watch the bulletin for more information. Sign-ups are held periodically in the Church Foyer or you can come to the Church Office to fill out an invitation response form.
The Cursillo method aims at helping to transform, in a Christian way, the environments where people live and work through the involvement of "new men and women" who have become such from their encounter with Christ. This is a goal of the three day "little course" on Christianity; in which a team of priests and lay people, supported by the prayer and sacrifices of the movement's other members, communicated the fundamental truths of the Christian faith in an especially "living way." ~Pope John Paul II, July 29, 2000
If you are interested in participating in this movement please contact the Church Office at (817) 284-4811.
Young Adult Ministry
Young adults who are between the ages of 18 and 35, are invited to join our community of brothers and sisters in Christ to help each other grow in faith and have fun at the same time. The group will have social gatherings one to two times per month and incorporate prayer, Bible study, philosophical discussion, spiritual reading and discussion groups and will also participate in diocesan functions such as Theology on Tap and special events.
Our first priority is to enrich our relationship with Jesus and Mary, bringing more love into our families and into the world. We pray for one another and encourage one another as we read and study various materials true to our Catholic Faith. This group meets in the Viewing Room of the Administration Building, Tuesday mornings from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. New members are always welcome! Child care for children ages one year and up is provided. Occasionally, we meet at one of our homes and bring the children with us. Please watch the bulletin for additional information.
"Fully Engaged" Marriage Preparation Program
This program invites engaged couples to explore specific areas that are central to a loving and life-giving relationship in sacramental marriage. Couples who have been married for 20 years or more serve as mentors to the engaged couples. Meeting together, in a relaxed environment, these couples share and grow to understand the fundamentals of a strong marriage and a healthy family life. Please call the Church Office for more information.
Divorce Recovery Program
Popular Catholic author and speaker, Rose Sweet has produced a powerful series featuring divorced men and women who share their true and inspiring stories. Many people stay stuck in their pain and don't know how to find their way home after a breakdown of their marriage. "The Catholic's Divorce Survival Guide" by Rose Sweet, moves the divorced Catholic past the pain and into the Love that never fails. This course is offered periodically throughout the year. Please watch the bulletin for details or call the Church Office for additional information.
